Group Income Protection

Basic Employment agreements provide for a maximum payment of one month’s salary in case of absence from work due to accident/ sickness. If an accident/ illness requires absence for more than a month either the employer will face a tough decision on whether to continue paying the employee’s salary or the employee will face a serious hit on the family cash-flow.

An Income Protection program will pay a fixed benefit to the insured if he/she is unable to work due to an accident/ illness for a period of time. This will be on top of any payments for medical treatment received through a Group Accident or Group Medical program and the intention is to cover part of the employee’s salary.

Because of the wide scope of cover this benefit is very expensive to purchase in the retail market. Adding it onto a Group Accident Insurance allows the employee to have affordable coverage due to the purchasing power of the group.
